A fair benchmark cannot be built from country or title alone. Price changes with scope, specialism, risk, duration, deliverables and usage rights. This guide separates the pricing model from the value you should receive.

1. Understand pricing models

A session is priced by duration and expertise. A fixed service is priced around a defined output and assumptions. A custom project requires requirement review before the price becomes meaningful.

Hourly pricing can suit variable work but needs an estimate or cap. Milestone pricing suits projects whose outputs can be accepted progressively.

2. Normalise the comparison

Create one list of deliverables, schedule, revision rounds, usage rights and client responsibilities. Ask each proposal to state exclusions because hidden exclusions can become later cost.

Check currency and any taxes or fees applicable to your case. A local display currency aids understanding, but the service agreement should state the actual charge currency.

3. Compare value and risk

Ask what becomes possible after delivery: a faster decision, clearer process, usable asset or reduced costly error. Do not justify price with an unproven financial return.

Choose a proposal you can understand and review from a provider who explains assumptions, risks and communication. A lower price may fit a simple scope; a higher one may fit when it reduces a documented material risk.

Questions related to this guide

Does Consulty display a local currency?+

The platform may show an approximate local-currency value for comparison while checkout identifies the original charge currency. Review live details before paying.

When should I request a quote?+

Use a quote request when deliverables and price cannot be defined before reviewing the case or files. Provide a clear brief and only necessary, safe information.

Is fixed pricing always better?+

No. It works when scope is known. For exploratory or variable work, a session, discovery phase or milestone model may be fairer.
